Shots from the Photo Album:

AIDA, 1991

Some fave shots from my personal album when I danced with the Crecent Moon Dancers in the 1991 production "AIDA". One newspaper described it as " A company of 1,001 -- including world famous opera singers, a chorus of 350, a 65-piece orchestra, dancers, elephants, camels, a zebra, a giraffe and snakes -- in a set that is 130 feet wide and contains 80-foot-high pyramids which make up the Connecticut Opera's production of Verdi's Aida, celebrating the company's 50th anniversary." Yes, I have a wig on and YESSSSSSSS...that is MAX the BOA  who hung with me the entire time! Each of us had our own 'buddy' to dance with during rehersal weeks.

The spectacle was presented at the Hartford Civic Center Coliseum, Connecticut.

Dancing in the Produce Aisle My VERY first promotional dance for the Hartford Production of AIDA...My costume wasn't even finished yet ! Ev and I danced up and down the grocery aisles with my puppet SINBAD the snake, letting people know of the upcoming show. The kids had a blast, and as you can see, so did the grocery store manager (yep, he swirled my veils off me)

Suzanne - 2009

Sue Sadowski had been asked to provide a belly dancing course to celebrate the summer solstice and not having done this sort of programming at RBG before I was a little uncertain how it would be received by members and general public.

The response was over whelming. Everyone who attended was so pleased with the uniqueness of the program but of the instructor as well. Sue put everyone at ease, demonstrated specific dance moves in an easy fun way and allowed the participants to be themselves and experience the dance to their own abilities. The whole evening was full of laughter and the skeptics in the group were begging for more. After our second year with the summer solstice, we invited Sue to teach an 8 week course which again had an excellent response. Sue was a truly profession teacher. She presented the classes in a format that was fun and easy to follow. Her approach was to listen to the audience and know what they wanted and delivered her programs accordingly. She was always patient when RBG had technical difficulties and keep the programs fun. The interest and appreciation was obvious when participants would sign up again and again for the programs. We had a gentleman in the group who was made to feel comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed himself.

My job at the RBG is to organize the educational programs, so I’m working with the instructors/teachers and Suzanne is competent, conscientious, professional and a delight to work with.
